My name is Emily Alff, and I’m a photographer and producer based in Washington, DC.

I started my career in local news, then moved to the nation’s capital. After covering several textbook-worthy historical events with CBS Mornings, I now work for a media production company where I take great pride in sharing “good” news. I also document the political and civil protest movements of DC as a freelance photographer, having attended the Missouri Photo Workshop and Mountain Workshops in 2025. To date, I’ve produced shoots beneath waterfalls, across dividers in state prisons, and through Zoom meeting rooms -- and taken photographs everywhere, from the front lines of protests to high-society events. No matter the location, I highlight everyone’s humanity: I’m here to share your story.

Working in a team is my happy place, but when it’s time to take a break, you’ll find me either curled up with my kitty, scouring thrift stores for my next book, or taking a walk in my neighborhood -- my camera always in tow.
